Gov't approves new banks notes featuring Israeli poets

The government on Sunday approved the printing of a new series of bank notes which will feature poets Shaul Tchernichovsky, Rachel, Leah Goldberg, and Natan Alterman.
The new bills will include advanced security detection signs, and the Bank of Israel intends to start issuing them in three years.
According to a Bank of Israel press release, the series will consist of denominations of 20, 50, 100 and 200 shekels.
"The members of the Committee and the Governor consider that featuring these personalities on the banknotes will help to instill in the younger generation of Israelis an appreciation of their contribution to Israeli society and to the state," the press release said.
