Group claims Russia metro bombing, says bomber acted on al-Qaida orders

ABIDJAN - A group called the Imam Shamil Battalion has claimed responsibility for the metro bombing in St. Petersburg, Russia this month that killed 16 people and said the bomber was acting on orders from al-Qaida, according to the SITE monitoring group.
In a statement, originally published by a Mauritanian news agency and translated by SITE, the little-known group said the bomber, Akbarzhon Jalilov, had acted on instructions from al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.
