A teenager trained in martial arts came to the defense of his 39-year-old mother in on Saturday, police said, breaking his 40-year-old father's jaw in the process. After witnessing his father allegedly strike his mother, the youth, 15, "first tried to defend his mother and prevent his father from attacking her," police said Sunday. "Since his defensive efforts were insufficient to halt the attack, the youth struck his father, fracturing his jaw," police added. The father has been hospitalized for medical treatment. The son has been released to house arrest after being questioned at a police station. The Haifa Magistrate’ Court will hold a remand hearing for the father later Sunday.
