Hamas leader lauds Obama's new Mideast approach, but 'waits for action'

Syria-based Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal on Thursday said he welcomes US President Barack Obama's new approach to the Middle East, but is waiting to see action. While the Hamas leader admitted Thursday that "there has been a change in Obama's language," he said the US president remains too sympathetic to Israel. In a televised speech Thursday, Mashaal pointedly refrained from mentioning the turmoil following the presidential elections in Iran, even though Hamas is backed by the Teheran regime.
