A senior Hamas official, Ahmed Yusuf, told a United Arab Emirates television station over the weekend that the Palestinian Islamist group will soon make an announcement on a long-term ceasefire with Israel. The talks on an Israeli-Hamas tahadiya (the Arabic term for 'truce') 'have come a long way, and soon we will be able to announce something about the issue,' Yusuf is quoted as saying.
