Head-on collision in Egypt kills 14

CAIRO — A truck slammed head on into a speeding minibus killing 14 people and injuring four others on a major road leading from Cairo to the northern provinces, an Egyptian police official said Wednesday.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said that the truck driver lost control after the trailer's front tire blew out and he collided with a minibus packed with passengers.
Traffic was stopped for several hours as police and ambulances cleared the area.
The incident took place on the Cairo-Alexandria highway just north of Cairo.
