Health basket addition approved by cabinet

The cabinet on Sunday approved the NIS 300 million addition to the 2014 basket of health services recommended by a public committee of experts last week.

The health funds are now required to provide such drugs and other technologies to relevant patients. A total of 83 new medical technologies and new indications for medications were approved without change.

Although the High Court of Justice last week listened to an appeal by parent groups involving Rett’s syndrome and other conditions for which technologies were not approved, the basket committee merely has to explain within 15 days why it made such a decision; this did not prevent the addition to the basket from being approved.

The addition to the basket will soon be displayed on the Health Ministry’s Hebrew website www.health.gov.il.
