Hebrew University pushes courses in English

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem has issued memoranda calling on teachers in several faculties to lecture in English as much as they can.
According to a Channel 2 report on Wednesday night, a memo circulated in the Agriculture Faculty at the university’s Rehovot campus urged lecturers to give all master’s degree classes in English.
In response to an inquiry, the university said that several courses would be taught in English, but certainly not the majority of them.
The TV station reported that the decision had elicited angry reactions from students, many of whom are not fluent in English. One student was quoted as saying it was ironic that the university  established as the first Hebrew-speaking academic institution would now be introducing courses taught in English.
