Herzog demands UK change law after Livni's Scotland Yard summons

Opposition leader Isaac Herzog (Zionist Union) sent a letter to the British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond on Sunday, after fellow Zionist Union MK and former Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni was summoned to Scotland Yard for questioning over alleged war crimes committed by the IDF during Operation Cast Lead in 2008-9.
Herzog demanded that the UK change the law to prevent such instances occurring again. Livni found a loophole whereby a meeting with a British diplomat was arranged in order to classify the visit as a "state visit," thereby giving her diplomatic immunity.
"In the context of the last few days, during which a 13-year old girl Israeli girl and a Rabbi were among those murdered by Palestinian terrorists (this) makes a mockery of the British government's calls for unity in fighting radical Islamist terror," the letter read.
