Hesder yeshiva graduates to Ashkenazi: We won't show up for reserve duty

Hesder yeshiva graduates

Some 100 hesder yeshiva graduates sent a letter to IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi on Monday morning, threatening to refuse reserve duty if the army severs ties with the Har Bracha Yeshiva. The letter was written following Defense Minister Ehud Barak's decision on Sunday night to remove the Har Bracha Yeshiva from the roster of hesder yeshivot after its head, Rabbi Eliezer Melamed, repeatedly expressed support in insubordination in the military. "If the IDF stops the arrangement with the yeshiva in Samaria we will not show up for our reserve duty," the graduates wrote in the letter. "We cannot be part of an army that rejects us."
