High Court: Agudat Yisrael must allow female members within 21 days

Agudat Yisrael must allow female members within 21 days ruled an expanded five member panel of the High Court of Justice late Thursday.

The ruling by High Court President Esther Hayut, Deputy President Hanan Melcer, Justices Neal Hendel, Uzi Vogelman and George Kara made a commitment by Agudat Yisrael to make such a change a legal obligation and gave them a quick set deadline.

Further, the court made it clear that failure to implement the change on the ground by actually permitting women to join the party as members would result in additional rulings creating formal obligations relating to implementation.
