High Court rejects appeal by Valis, convicted of beating baby son to death

The High Court on Tuesday rejected an appeal by Yisrael Valis, a 19-year-old haredi man who was convicted of beating his three-month-old son to death. The young father had appealed against the manslaughter verdict and the six-year jail term to which he was sentenced. Valis was convicted of repeatedly biting, beating, pinching and punching the infant from birth because he "did not accept him" due to a congenital defect in the child's neck muscles.
