Histadrut, Treasury delay court submission on talks

The Histadrut Labor Federation and Finance Ministry appeared Sunday to be no closer to settling their differences over the employment status of contract workers, as they delayed updating the National Labor Court on their negotiations to Thursday.
Both sides were supposed to report to the court by Sunday morning on the progress of negotiations, but the Histadrut said it, the Finance Ministry, and employers would delay the submission “in order to continue to manage talks.”
The labor court ordered the negotiations after allowing the Histadrut to hold a four-hour general strike last Monday in protest over the issue of contract workers. Both sides were originally ordered to submit written reports to the court by the end of last week, but the submission has now been delayed twice.
