Hong Kong shares sink to 7-week low on China policy jitters

Hong Kong shares sank to theirlowest close since early September on Thursday, with Chinesegrowth-sensitive counters rattled by tightening fears aftershort-term money rates again spiked.

This came after China's central bank refrained frominjecting funds via open market operations for a third-straightsession and as Beijing stepped up efforts to counter surgingproperty prices in the capital.

The Hang Seng Index ended down 0.7 percent at22,835.8 points, its lowest close since Sept. 9. The ChinaEnterprises Index of the leading Chinese listings inHong Kong dropped 1.3 percent.
