House blast kills 9, wounds 7 in north China

So far, nine people have been killed and seven injured following an explosion at a house in north China's Shanxi Province Saturday night, local authorities said Sunday.
The blast occurred at about 10:28 p.m. Saturday on Nanhuan West Road in Fushan County, Linfen city, burying ten people of which only one survived, according to an official with the city's publicity department.
The explosion also slightly injured six people at the blast site.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the illegal storage of explosives may have caused the blast.
Nine houses and four makeshift houses also collapsed from the incident. Another five houses were damaged by the force from the blast.
Rescuers are still searching for people at the site while the wounded is being treated in a local hospital.
Further investigation is underway.
