Housing C'tee approves neighborhood near Apollonia National Park

The National Housing Committee approved on Tuesday an Israel Lands Authority program to construct 3,000 housing units in Herzliya, near Apollonia National Park, both the ILA and the Interior Ministry announced that day. The construction plans, which was submitted by the ILA with the support of the Israel Nature and Parks Authority along with the Herzilya municipality, include 9.16 hectares of land in the north of the city and will provide housing for about 20,000 residents.

Stressing that the plans were formulated in coordination with the INPA, the ILA said that the construction will preserve national park lands and will form a contiguous neighborhood between apartments and park land that residents can enjoy. In response to a query from The Jerusalem Post, the INPA expressed no objections to the plans.

In addition to the 3,000 housing units approved on Tuesday, another 900 are likely to be approved after applying provisions of TAMA-35 (Integrated National Master Plan for Construction Development and Preservation) to the area, the ILA statement said.
