Hundreds of migrants rescued at sea off Libyan coast

Hundreds of migrants were rescued by a Spanish humanitarian organization at sea on Monday off the coast of Libya after being found floating on a wooden boat.
Spanish humanitarian group 'Proactiva Open Arms' transferred about 500 mostly Eritrean migrants from a wooden boat onto rubber dinghies and then to a larger Proactiva vessel, a witness said.
It was one of several boats full of migrants rescued in the area on Monday.
Among the rescued migrants were infants and small children, intercepted some 13 nautical miles from the coast of Sabratah, Libya, according to Proactiva, which was coordinating the operation with the Italian Maritime Rescue Coordination Center.
