IDF confirms arrest of 'number of suspects' during search for Givat Assaf terrorist

A "number of suspects" were arrested by IDF, Shin Bet, and border police forces during overnight operations searching for the Givat Assaf terrorist, the IDF said in a statement on Monday.

Security forces continue a wide-scale hunt for his As'am Barghouti, 32, who murdered two IDF soldiers and critically wounded another soldier at Givat Assaf on December 13.

His brother carried out the Ofra shooting attack earlier in December, and earlier Palestinian reports said the brother's widow was among those arrested.

"The IDF will continue to act for the security of the residents in the area and in an effort to prevent terror," the army concluded.
