IDF doctor’s license suspended after sexual assault conviction

The medical license of Dr. Alexander Djokov, an Israel Defense Forces physician from Ramle, has been suspended by the Health Ministry for 10 years after he was convicted of indecent assault against seven women soldiers.
The decision was taken by retired justice Amnnon Strashnov, who has the authority from the health minister to investigate and take such actions. The 51-year-old Djokov worked in 2012 as the clinic doctor in the 340 Division.
He asked women patients he examined to “needlessly” remove various clothing, and made physical contact “without any connection to their medical complaints and not as part of a medical examination solely for sexual stimulation and gratification.”
The ministry said on Sunday that a plea bargain resulted in a six-month prison sentence, including three months’ working in the IDF and a three-year probation.
