IDF plans to move 3 staff colleges to east Jerusalem

The Defense Ministry formulated a plan to move three military colleges from Glilot, north of Tel Aviv, to east Jerusalem in an area east of the Green Line, Israel Radio reported on Tuesday.
The plan calls for the colleges to be built in between Brigham Young University's Jerusalem Center and Hebrew University's Mt. Scopus campus, according to the report. It would occupy 32 dunams of land and house some 1,400 soldiers.
Defense Ministry officials said that "the project has not yet been approved, and that it is being examined by the defense establishment and the Jerusalem municipality." One of the main focuses of the examination, the statement said, was "to ensure that the area is wholly owned by the State of Israel and if it is found to not be entirely state land, the defense establishment will work to find another location for the colleges," according to the report.
The Jerusalem municipality said that the area in question is not beyond the Green Line and that the project has not yet entered the planning phase, Israel radio reported.
