IDF to halt move to South due to budget cuts

Plans to gradually move the IDF's headquarters to the South have been put on hold, Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon announced Sunday in a report by Channel 2.
He said the plan had to be halted since the 2015 budget did not allocate the IDF enough money to continue the move.
The first stage of the program (known by its Hebrew acronym, Shoham), was to involve the clearance of 42 hectares from the sprawling Tzrifin base near Rishon Lezion, about 1 hectare from IDF General Headquarters (the Kirya) in Tel Aviv (currently housing Military Police and medical clinics), and a small base in Haifa’s downtown area.
