IDF to investigate social media protest over Nahal soldier incident in Hebron

Addressing the controversy surrounding the incident in Hebron in which an IDF soldier was filmed cocking his rifle at Palestinians, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz said the army would investigate the incident as well as the outpouring of support for the soldier by thousands of other soldiers on social media websites.
"It's important that we remember and tell our subordinates in a clear manner that Facebook is not a command tool. It is here, and that's a fact, but it is not a replacement or even a parallel channel for dialogue between commanders and their soldiers," Gantz said.
Gantz ordered commanders to explain this to their subordinates in the coming days.
