IEC reform c'tee launched

A steering committee for reforming the Israel Electric Corporation met for the first time on Sunday, under the leadership of Uri Yogev at the Energy and Water Ministry in Jerusalem. Over the next few months, committee members will meet in order to formulate final recommendations that will optimize the electricity sector and create an efficient and financially stable IEC, the ministry said. Among the members of the committee are officials from both the Energy and Water Ministry and the Finance Ministry as well as various other government and public representatives.
Also in the electricity sector, the cabinet approved on Sunday the establishment of a new ministerial committee on the advancement and implementation of renewable energies – to be headed by Energy and Water Minister Silvan Shalom.
