In appeal to Right, Netanyahu rules out national unity government with Herzog-Livni

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday ruled out a coalition with the Left, including the Zionist Union headed by Tzipi Livni and Isaac Herzog.

The premier issued an official statement on his Twitter account that hoped to appeal to right-wing voters torn between Likud, Bayit Yehudi, and other rightist factions.

“I will not form a government with the parties of the Left because of the ideological gap between the Likud and Buji (Herzog’s nickname) and Tzipi,” the prime minister tweeted.

“Bayit Yehudi will be a member in a large, Likud-led coalition that I will form. But if the Likud isn’t strong enough, there is no guarantee that the task of forming a government will fall on my shoulders.”

“There is a possibility that a left-wing government would be formed,” Netanyahu tweeted. “The choice this time is between a large Likud or a left-wing government.”
