International panels to assess six higher ed programs

Six higher education programs in Israel will be submitted to International committees for quality assessment in the coming academic year.
Among the tracks to be evaluated as part of the Council for Higher Education’s initiatives to ensure and maintain quality academic standards are computer science, materials engineering, medical laboratory sciences, education and science teaching, medicine and law.
Michal Neumann, deputy-director of quality assessment at the CHE, said the assessments had several purposes including creating a culture of evaluation in institutions; improving the quality of higher education in the country; informing the public about the quality of studies; and ensuring the continued integration of the Israeli academic system in the world.
For three of the six programs – computer science, medicine and law – this will be a second round of evaluation that will focus on changes since the previous one seven years ago.
