Iran condemns EU sanctions on Iranian officials

The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Saturday condemned a decision by the EU to impose sanctions on 32 Iranian officials for allegations that they committed human rights abuses, reported AP quoting IRNA.
Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the EU "followed US policies" after the 27-nation bloc agreed last week to place visa bans and asset freezes on the 32 individuals.
Mehmanparast said the sanctions aim to divert attention from human rights violations committed in the West.
