Iran hangs woman convicted of killing her rapist

Iran has executed a woman who was sentenced to death for killing her rapist, BBC reported her mother as saying on Saturday.
Reyhaneh Jabbari, 26, was hanged in a prison in Iran's capital of Tehran, despite a campaign organized by human rights organization Amnesty International, urging global intervention to stop the execution.
In 2007, Jabbari was arrested for killing Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi, a former employee of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence. Jabbari claimed that she was defending herself against Sarbandi’s sexual advances.
