Iran releases 6 Slovak paragliders suspected of spying on nuclear reactor

Iran has released six of eight Slovak paragliders that have been held since May for allegedly spying on Tehran's nuclear program, AFP quoted Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico as saying Sunday.

Iran announced in July that it was investigating nine people - one Iranian and eight Slovaks - who were arrested for "illegal activities, including photographing restricted areas" in the central Isfashan province, where the Islamic Republic has built its nuclear facilities, including the Natanz uranium enrichment site.

Friends of the paragliders told AFP they were not spies, and that they were filming documentaries from a bird's-eye view.
