Israel, Czech Republic open door to 1-year work visas

For periods of up to one year, young Israelis will be able to obtain visas that allow work in the Czech Republic, and vice versa, the Population and Immigration authority announced Tuesday.
The program, which will be open to about 200 people from each country each year, will be welcome news to Israelis looking to expand work experience abroad, but also to local employers interested in hiring foreign workers. More than anything, however, it is intended to promote cultural exchange and interaction.
"This is a unique track that allows young people from different countries to get to know Israel, to travel in it and admire its culture and tradition," said Interior Minister Arye Deri, adding that he would continue to advance such arrangements with other countries.
Similar programs exists between Israel and Australia, Germany, South Korea and New Zealand.
