Veteran diplomat Amir Maimon will be the new ambassador to Vilnius, charged with the task of building the embassy infrastructure there.
In addition to the new embassy in Lithuania, Israel will be re-opening the embassy in Paraguay, closed because of budgetary reasons in 2002. Peleg Levy was named the new envoy in Asuncion.
The other ambassadorial appointments include Liran Bar-Sadeh to Riga; Gil Artzieli to Panama City; and Emanuel Mehl to Ghana, also serving as non-resident ambassador to Liberia.
The appointments must now good to the cabinet for final approval, generally just a formality.
