Israel Railways to step up enforcement of ticket purchases

Beginning on Monday, Israel Railways will be strengthening its enforcement activity, to ensure that all passengers have purchased tickets properly.

In light of increased trends in train travel and ticket purchase evasion, the company has elected to launch special monitoring teams who will enforce the use of tickets and Rav Kav multiuse passes.

The enforcement team members will have the authority to collect the cost of a ticket plus an additional fine, as well as call in the Israel Police if necessary, the company explained.

"Israel Railways makes every effort to provide accurate, fast, pleasant and efficient service, but it is appropriate for passengers to purchase tickets legitimately," a statement from the firm said.
