Israel suspends diplomatic dialogue with EU over settlement product labeling

Israel on Wednesday suspended its diplomatic dialogue with the European Union in response to the EU's adoption of new guidelines for placing special labels on products produced by Israeli companies over the Green Line - in the West Bank, the Golan Heights and east Jerusalem. As part of the policy, such items produced beyond the Green Line will no longer be allowed to carry a 'Made in Israel' label in EU countries.
The Foreign Ministry summoned the European Union’s Ambassador to Israel, Lars Faaborg, for a discussion on the new settlement labeling guidelines on Wednesday.
"During the meeting, Foreign Ministry representatives informed the ambassador that because of the recent EU decision, Israel is suspending its diplomatic dialogue with the EU in various forums in which it has meetings scheduled in the coming weeks," the Foreign Ministry stated.
