Israel to protest incendiary comments by S. African minister

The Foreign Ministry has summoned South African ambassador to Israel Ambassador Sisa Ngombane to a meeting in the ministry on Monday to protest inflammatory comments about Israel made by a South African government minister.
Speaking at an Israel “apartheid week” event at the Stellenbosch University campus, South Africa's Minister of Water and Sanitation Nomvula Mokonyane was reported to have said that the Israeli army is a “murderous machine,” and that Elor Azaria, recently sentenced for killing an already neutralized terrorist, “shot a Palestinian protester lying on the ground.”
She also accused Israel of “water apartheid” against the Palestinians, and said the country was using water “as a tool to control the state of Palestine.”
In addition to summoning the South African ambassador, Israel's envoy to South Africa, Arthur Lenk, will register a protest with the South African Foreign Ministry as well.
