Israel to purchase four naval patrol ships from Germany

Israel will purchase four naval patrol boats from Germany, adding to its fleet of vessels safeguarding the country’s maritime borders, the Defense Ministry announced on Monday.
According to the terms of the deal, the German government will subsidize a portion of the cost, which totals 430 million euros. Berlin has committed to kicking in 115 million euros.
Germany has also pledged to reciprocate with a purchase of Israeli ships totaling NIS 700 million, according to the Defense Ministry.
Germany’s minister of defense, Ursula von der Leyen, is currently in Israel on an official state visit.
