Israeli Arab gets 4.5 years for smuggling heroin from Lebanon

The Haifa District Court on Wednesday sentenced Ayhab Sa'ari Hamoud, 21, from the Arab town of Sajur, to 4.5 years in jail for smuggling drugs. Hamoud was caught on the Israel-Lebanon border when another man threw him a two-kilogram package of heroin from the Lebanese side. He claimed that criminals paid him money to pick up the drugs, although at a different point he claimed that he did not know about any drugs and happened to be passing the area by coincidence.
