Israeli Arabs hold the first protest at Megiddo prison

Israeli Arabs held a protest in support of Palestinian prisoners outside of Megiddo prison on Thursday. Protestors held banners showing their solidarity with the prisoners and demanding their release according to the Israeli Arab Panet website. The protest was organized by the Higher Arab Monitoring Committee, which coordinates political activities in the Arab sector.
Khaled An-Naftawi, a Palestinian political activist involved in the prisoner issue, told the The Jerusalem Post that there are three protests being held this year in honor of Land Day, which is held on March 30 every year by Palestinians to commemorate the deaths of six Arabs in 1976 protests over what the Palestinians charged was Israeli land confiscation.
