Israeli artist and writer Amos Kenan dies at age 82

Amos Kenan, a writer and artist known for his outspoken criticism of government policies, died on Tuesday afternoon after suffering from Alzheimer¹s at the age of 82. Kenan (formerly Levine) was born in Tel Aviv in 1927. He was a founder of Hashomer Hatzair¹s magazine, Alef, which published his first book in 1949. His 1984 novel, The Road to Ein Harod was made into a film in 1990. One of his daughters is singer Rona Kenan, who released an album called 'Songs for Joel' this year, based on his life story. He will be buried on Thursday at 6 pm in Kibbutz Einat.
