Israeli citizen indicted after planning to join the Islamic State

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) cleared for publication on Sunday the arrest of an Israeli citizen, Mahmoud Ahmed Azam, who identified with and planned to join the Islamic State.
In a joint operation carried out by the Shin Bet and Israel Police, Azam, resident of the Lower Galilee town of Kfar Manda, was arrested on June 6 2017.
An investigation discovered that Azam supported the idea of Islamic State and, in recent months, made preparations to join and fight with the group.
Prosecutors filed an indictment against Azam on Sunday.
