‘Israeli diabetes patients miss injections’

Diabetics in Israel are twice as likely to forget to give themselves injections than patients in Europe, according to an Israeli study. It showed that 25 percent of Israeli patients with Type 2 Diabetes in Israel who give themselves injections forgot to do so, compared to 12% from France, Germany, Spain and Britain.
In addition, 30% of the Israelis admitted that they had experienced a hypoglycemic episode (low blood sugar) in the previous 30 days, but had not reported this to their doctors – a larger percentage than in other countries.
Novo Nordisk conducted the study in cooperation with Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and the Rabin Medical Center, and presented it at the 2013 Annual European Association for the Study of Diabetes in Barcelona.
