Israeli envoy Danon discusses BDS with Chicago mayor

NEW YORK – Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon met with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel this week, and said the city and the Jewish state are joining hands in rejecting the BDS movement.
“Chicago stands by Israel and Israel stands by Chicago in this important battle,” Danon said. “Israel and Chicago have a lot in common,” he added following the meeting. “We are both leaders in water treatment and conservation, and we are both prioritizing innovation and technology at the top of our agendas.”
Danon thanked Emanuel for the successful implementation of the law and called for “continued coordination and cooperation against those who seek to delegitimize Israel.”
Illinois was the first US state to pass a law prohibiting it from doing business with companies or individuals that support boycotts of Israel. Dozens of other states followed with similar initiatives.
