Israeli security forces arrest West Bank document forger

Israeli security forces raided a large document forgery operation Monday night in the West Bank village of Akraba, 18 kilometers southeast of Nablus. The operation undertaken by police in coordination with the IDF produced hundreds of fake identity cards, Israeli work visas, and permits to enter Israel.

A 32-year-old Palestinian suspect was arrested and confessed to forging hundreds of fake documents and selling them for NIS 300, according to police. The suspect is detained and police are seeking to extend his detention.

The police also seized a laptop, printer, and raw materials for making the documents.

Last week, speaking at the Knesset State Control Committee, IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot said that around 50,000-60,000 Palestinians illegally enter Israel daily from the West Bank. However only 4,300 of these persons are arrested each year.
