Israeli security forces foil arms smuggling in Jericho

Israeli police on Wednesday arrested two suspects, ages 29 and 35 in Jericho on suspicion of weapons smuggling. Along with the arrests, police seized five M-16 assault rifles, 13 pistols, sniper scopes, and ammunition.
According to the Police Spokesperson Unit, this seizure is part of larger police movement to crack down on illegal weapons and cut off weapons smuggling routes. Earlier this week police concluded a year long covert operation leading to the arrest of 63 suspected illegal arms dealers in the Arab-Israeli region of the Triangle.
