Syrian's defense minister Gen. Fahd Jassem al-Freij said in an interview broadcast on Monday on Syrian state television that the alleged Israeli strike on a weapons convoy was retaliation against the Assad regime's battle against the rebels, the Wall Street Journal reported.According to al-Freij, the rebels are Israel's proxies in Syria.
