Israeli tourists stranded in Jordan

Israel media reported on Thursday that a group of Israeli tourists in Jordan have not been able to return to Israel because their local police escort disappeared at one of the waterfalls that the group was visiting.

The Israeli tourists were being detained by Jordanian security authorities.

Ynet quoted Jordanian security sources as stating that the security officer's body was found Thursday morning. The tourists were supposed to cross the Hussein Bridge back to Israel but were prevented from doing so because they did not have a police escort.

The Jordanian authorities stressed that the Israelis were not suspects in the incident.
