Israeli UN envoy reveals images of downed Iranian offensive drone

Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon revealed images of an Iranian drone launched from Syria he claimed was equipped with an “offensive weapon” that was intended to be used against Israel.
Danon also said that Iran was using Syria to build a new military front against the Jewish state and was devising plans to establish auxiliary paramilitary outfits modeled after Hezbollah that could pose a threat to Israel’s security.
“We will never stand by while being threatened by our adversaries,” Danon said while speaking to reporters outside the UN Security Council chamber just minutes before a scheduled meeting.
“We must stop the Iranian empire from spreading in the Middle East,” he added.
In February, the IDF said that it had downed an Iranian unmanned aerial vehicle over Syrian territory it claimed was equipped with explosives.
“The interception of the Iranian unmanned aircraft by an attack helicopter prevented an Iranian intent to carry out an attack in the territory of the State of Israel,” read a statement by the army.
