Israelis brace for hot Yom Kippur

As many Israelis prepare to fast on Yom Kippur this Wednesday, the country will likely face sizzling temperatures. Tuesday will generally feature partly cloudy to fair skies with a rise in mercury levels, while on Yom Kippur itself, a further increase in heat stress will leave much of the country with unseasonable warmth, according to Israel Meteorological Service forecasts.
In Tel Aviv, temperatures are expected to rise to about 36°C on Wednesday, while those in Jerusalem will peak at about 33°C, the IMS data said. Temperatures in Eilat will likely hit up to 41°C, while those in Beersheba and Ein Gedi will rise to 38°C and 40°C respectively, IMS predicted.
In the North, Haifa is expected to experience highs of 34°C, as Safed and Katzrin reach about 32°C and 37°C, the forecast said.
