Israel's 1st 'Jewish federation" starts fundraising drive

Takdim, Israel's first charity based on the North American model of the Jewish federation, has begun its annual fundraising campaign, the group announced on Wednesday.
The group based in the Tel Aviv suburb of Ramat Hasharon set a a goal of raising $1 million over the next two years. It said the money would go to fund four projects including a public park accessible to children and adults with disabilities. “Takdim is creating an ‘Israeli model’ for community-wide philanthropy, based on mutual responsibility and ‘tikkun olam," Arik Rosenblum, the managing director of Takdim, said. "We believe that it’s our responsibility to work toward improving society and this starts at home."
The charity's target is modest in comparison to its inspirations which channel hundreds of millions  to Jewish causes in Israel and around the world through their umbrella group the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) each year.
