Israel's envoy to UN demands Security Council condemnation of Hamas

Israel’s envoy to the United Nations demanded that the UN Security Council condemn Hamas for the ongoing rocket fire at the western Negev.
“As we speak, sirens are being sounded… as rockets are fired at Beersheba, Ashkelon, Ashdod, and Beit Shemesh,” Jerusalem’s ambassador to the UN, Ron Prosor, wrote in a letter to the Security Council.
“Hamas is indiscriminately firing at millions of Israeli civilians,” Prosor said. “In one hour, 65 rockets were fired. That means one every minute.”
“Israel’s leadership is committed to stopping the rocket fire and the acts of terrorism against its citizens. That is the obligation of a responsible government. Whoever harms Israel will pay a steep price.”
“The Security Council is obligated to condemn Hamas and denounce the terrorism against Israel and to call on [Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas] to dismantle the unity government at once.”
