Israel’s Pezaro picks up more medals in the pool

Israeli Paralympian swimmer Inbal Pezaro claimed three medals at the IPC Swimming European Open Championships in Funchal, Portugal, claiming her final medal in the 100- meter freestyle S5 final on Saturday.
After already picking up a silver in the 200m individual medley and a bronze in the 200m freestyle, the 29-year-old surged to finish the 100m free final in third, edging Joana Maria Silva of Brazil by six hundredths of a second after clocking a time of 1:24.73 minutes.
Pezaro, who has been paralyzed in her lower limbs since birth, will represent Israel in this summer’s Paralympics in Brazil. She already owns a collection of eight Paralympic medals, winning a bronze and a silver in Athens 2004 and three silvers in Beijing in 2008 before taking three bronzes in London 2012.
