Jerusalem and Tel Aviv among 14 cities to receive Bloomberg grants

Jerusalem and Tel Aviv chosen Tuesday to be recipients of Bloomberg grants, the only cities outside the United States to be selected. The grants, totaling $45 million, will allow city governments to create teams to design and implement programs that aim to improve residents' lives.
The Bloomberg Philanthropies' statement said that "Mayor Nir Barkat of Jerusalem will use his i-team to focus on poverty and economic development, while Mayor Ron Huldai of Tel Aviv-Yafo will focus on cost of living and illegal immigration."
The other cities that will recive grants are Albuquerque, NM; Boston, MA; Centennial, CO; Jersey City, NJ; Long Beach, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Mobile, AL; Minneapolis, MN; Peoria, IL; Rochester, NY; Seattle, WA; and Syracuse, NY.
